The July 20th visit to Nunnington was billed as a gentle evening stroll east along the Rye followed by a search for bats over the river as the night drew in. The way the weather was, evening came early, and the four stalwarts who had braved the elements went straight to the bridge, hoping perhaps to see bats just after eight. However no sooner had Michael Thompson given an interesting introduction on the three species of bat that we might see, including Noctule and the water related species, Daubentons, when the heavens opened once more and regrettably we had to call it a day!
